Other Models

I said I would talk about other models, I only have an e310, and there are lots of related models e330, e335, and then those of e740, e750, e755. At the moment I know nothing of the others, What I can say is my screen has the following written on the back.

If your e740, etc has anything similar written on it, it would probably be worth buying an XDA, screen if it needs an extension, let me know, and if an extension of 17/19mm is inappropriate, I could make up a longer or shorter one, if you didn't fancy making it yourself.

Buying the parts

Buying a XDA touch screen is quite straight forward, there are places in the US, Canada, Australia, and the UK, I can recommend pdascreens.co.uk, I bought mine from there, a very helpful service, hidden beneath a rudimentary webpage.

Email me at email, if you want a cable you should get a fast response, there's a small charge, usually what I consider 1 hour of my time to be worth at the time plus postage, I know what its like to wait, in the first year of ownership, my Toshiba was in the 'shop' for 4 months, read more about Toshiba ownership... any other questions may take longer, I don't have code number for the socket I use, the cable says AMW289680CVW1, they come indirectly from professional supplies, I used to work in electronics manufacturing, the parts I have come by the bucket.

Is the job of replacing a screen 'do-able', well its not difficult, but then I think nothing of replacing cells (not batteries) in laptops and mobile phones to save a few pounds. It is important not to force anything, and the most important thing is to NEVER touch the screen beneath the touch panel DON'T take the panel off until you have a new one ready, your fingernails alone cause scratches which manifest themselves as black shadows and are very obvious once reassembled.

Good luck! Shaun.
